Five Great New Shopify Themes in 2017
January’s often a quiet month for ecommerce, as customers give their wallets a break after all the Christmas splurging. So it’s a good time of year for store owners to turn a critical eye to their online shops and investigate what can be improved in the coming year, whether that’s adding an email sign up to their site, or changing things up with a site redesign. With that in mind, now seemed like a good time to do another one of my Shopify theme roundups – you can check out the 2016 edition here, or read on to see my top Shopify themes of 2017.
01. Boundless Theme – FREE
The best thing about this theme? Nothing about it says “free”. A minimal yet elegant design places product images front and center, and removes any distractions from shopping. And with an attention-grabbing, full width slideshow, social media integration, and a host of other customization options, the Boundless theme by Shopify means that even if you’re having to bootstrap your store setup, your customers will never know!
02. Vogue Theme – $180
One of the challenges of ecommerce design, particularly for creative brands, is creating a layout that stands out – without being too confusing for your customers to navigate. The Vogue theme by Pixel Union gives you an excellent solution to that problem with a stunning lookbook-inspired design. Perfect for fashion and accessories brands and those with large product images.
03. Symmetry Shopify Theme – $180
A large product catalogue can make it difficult to highlight all your offerings on your homepage without it becoming overly cluttered and confusing for your customers. The highly flexible Symmetry theme by Clean Themes allows you to easily arrange your content exactly as you wish, with multiple slider banners, collection and product carousels, as well as options for adding your own text and images as needed. Handy little features like currency conversions and an Instagram feed, along with four preset styles for you to choose from means you really are spoilt for choice with this theme.
04. Kagami Shopify Theme – $180
One of my favourite features about the Kagami theme by Maestrooo is actually the collapsible FAQ page template – a perfect example of the well thought out little “extra” details in this premium Shopify theme. The overall design is as elegant and well executed as the rest of the features, with a flexible product grid and clean, simple Twitter and Instagram feeds. Top notch customer support completes an already perfect package.
05. Label Shopify Theme – $160
One of the rare complaints I hear about Shopify themes is that while it’s very easy to present your products in a clear and appealing way, other types of content can often be more challenging. The Label theme by Giraffic perfectly caters to brands with accompanying news and events to promote alongside their products, with a well laid out section for events and clear featured blog posts and updates on the homepage.
